🚜 Parametri raccolta Meccanica

The app Tomato Harvest Efficiency Calculator – Manual / Mechanical allows you to evaluate and visually compare the efficiency of the two main tomato harvesting systems 🍅:
manual harvesting and mechanical harvesting using a harvester.
Thanks to the integration of dynamic charts, you can analyze the differences in productivity (kg/h), costs (€/kg), and losses (%) in real-time, with an immediate and clear overview.

🧭 Objective

Provide an interactive decision dashboard that compares:

  • Productive efficiency (kg/h);
  • Unit cost of harvesting (€/kg);
  • Percentage losses and actual unharvested kg;
  • Estimated operating margin (€);
  • Yield per area (kg/ha) when indicated.

Thanks to the included charts, you can instantly visualize the strengths and weaknesses of each method and choose the strategy that best suits your farm.

🔧 How it works

  1. Enter the reference kg harvested, and optionally the area (ha) and selling price €/kg.
  2. Set the parameters for manual harvesting (number of workers, hours per worker, hourly cost, inefficiencies, and losses).
  3. Enter the data for mechanical harvesting (theoretical capacity in t/h, field efficiency, machine hours, operator costs, fuel, and rental).
  4. Press Calculate to get comparative results, interactive charts, and a clear economic summary.

📊 Interactive Charts

The charts provide an immediate view of the comparison and automatically adjust to the entered data:

🔹 Productivity Chart (kg/h)

A side-by-side bar chart displays the average hourly productivity of the two harvesting methods.
You can visually compare the operational speed: how many kg are harvested each hour manually compared to with the machine 🚜.

🔹 Harvest Cost Chart (€/kg)

A column chart highlights the average costs per kg harvested, divided by type of harvesting.
The height of the bars represents the unit cost: the shorter the column, the more economical the method.

🔹 Loss Chart (%)

A horizontal bar chart shows the estimated percentage of loss for each method.
This allows you to immediately visualize the impact of losses in the field on the final yield 🌱.

🔹 Margin Chart (€)

If you enter a selling price, the app also generates an operating margin chart, useful for understanding which method offers the best net profit after costs.

All charts are responsive, optimized for desktop and mobile screens, and update the values in real-time with each new calculation.

🧾 Calculated Data

For each method, the app clearly shows:

  • Total hours and actual hours with inefficiencies;
  • Total productivity and per worker;
  • Direct costs and €/kg;
  • Estimated losses in kg and %;
  • Economic margin (if a €/kg price is set).

Additionally, a final panel compares the two methods and indicates who wins on cost and productivity.

💡 Practical Example

Suppose we compare 25,000 kg of harvest:

  • Manual: 12 workers × 7 hours, cost 12 €/h → 298 kg/h total, cost 0.034 €/kg, estimated loss 3%.
  • Mechanical: capacity 25 t/h, efficiency 70% → 17,500 kg/h, total cost 0.021 €/kg, loss 2%.

In the resulting charts, the productivity bar of mechanical harvesting appears much higher, while the unit cost bar is lower.
This makes it clear that mechanical is more efficient and cost-effective in this scenario.

🧾 Export and Share

After the calculation, you can:

  • Export a CSV with all parameters and results;
  • Copy the data to the clipboard for sharing;
  • (In the Pro version) print a PDF with charts and summaries for production reports.

🚀 Operational Benefits

  • Clear, numerical, and graphical comparison between harvesting methods;
  • Decisions based on concrete data and economic indicators;
  • Intuitive visualizations with bar and horizontal charts;
  • Quick export and sharing of results;
  • Suitable for both small businesses and large producers.

⚠️ Warnings

The calculations and charts are based on the entered values: the accuracy depends on the precision of the field data and real costs.
For professional or administrative use, always verify the parameters with official business data.
The results are not permanently saved: if you want to keep them, use the Export CSV or PDF feature.
